eter Hernandez is a Veteran of the United States Army, active Law Enforcement Officer, and is the Founder and President of the Wounded Officers Initiative. Peter’s 25 plus years of law enforcement began shortly after joining the United States Army at the age of 17. During his tenure in the Army Peter served abroad in several deployments as a Military Policeman before receiving an Honorable Discharge after returning home from Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Peter’s passion for law enforcement grew from his service in the Army. Peter served in Federal Law Enforcement as a Federal Police Officer with the Department of Veterans Affairs before becoming a Special Agent with the Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Air Marshal Service.
Peter later joined local law enforcement serving the City of Ocoee as a Police Officer, later becoming a Deputy Sheriff in the 9th largest Sheriff’s Office in the United States; the Orange County Sheriff's Office, Florida. Peter remains with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office where he is assigned to the Major Case Unit’s, Homicide Squad. Peter is a Detective assigned to the squads Cold Case section.
Peter’s founding and development of the Wounded Officers Initiative was done with one major purpose; to create an organization that resolves the issues for wounded officers throughout the United States. The charity model Peter and his team developed is unique in that it focuses on 5 key goals which bring about independence, dignity, and financial stability.
